
Richard G. Rumrell, the managing shareholder of our Jacksonville and St. Augustine offices, received his undergraduate education at University of South Florida (B.A. 1967); and his law school education at Florida State University (J.D. with honors 1970). He has been a Florida Legislative Intern, Ford Foundation 1968 and was the Administrative Assistant to the late former Governor of Florida, Lawton M. Chiles, when Chiles served as a State Senator in Florida. Always looking for new ways to develop and hone his abilities, Rumrell also obtained an LLM in Advanced Litigation from Nottingham Law School Ltd., Nottingham University (LL.M., in Advanced Litigation, July 1996).
Richard Rumrell is admitted to the United States Supreme Court, as well as the District of Columbia, all state and U.S. District Courts in Florida, and the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits. He is a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer by both the National Board of Trial Advocacy and the Florida Bar Board of Certification. He is also Board Certified in other substantive areas of law such as Business Litigation and Admiralty Law by the Florida Bar. He has also served on the Judicial Nominating Commission of the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida from 1995 to 1999 and as Chairman of the Commission from 1997 to 1998. Rumrell has used his extensive trial and legislative backgrounds to assist clients develop effective strategies to resolve disputes, overcome challenges, and effectively meet their needs.
Richard Rumrell has also remained closely connected to the legal and civic community through membership and leadership positions in various organizations, including: Chairman, Jacksonville Economic Development Council 1992-1993; American Bar Association (Litigation Section); The Florida Bar; The District of Columbia Bar; Proctor in Admiralty, Maritime Law Association of the United States (Member, Stevedoring and Terminal Operations Committee); Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute; American Judicature Society..
